At different times in our lives, we all face the experience of grief—it’s part of the human condition. That statement is easy enough to understand, but doesn’t it also ring more true than it should in our culture, one that often glosses over troubling emotions?
In her work as a licensed professional counselor and hospice chaplain, Kate Meyer started to notice how much her clients struggled with allowing themselves to grieve. Yet what was more, she heard them say time and again that the world around them, including their faith community, which is supposed to be a place of support, made little space for this emotion and this human experience.
That’s why Meyer wrote her first book, Faith Doesn’t Erase Grief, which has consistently found readers since it released in July of 2022, incidentally, as the very first book published by Lake Drive.
Now, this September 16, we’re releasing Meyer’s second book, Navigating the Waves of Grief: Healing Prompts and Reflections to Move You Forward. While we still recommend the insights and ideas of her first book, this new book focuses less on understanding how grief happens and more on doing the actual emotional work.

Navigating the Waves of Grief offers structured reflection prompts, practical exercises, and emotional explorations. Meyer helps you visualize what grief looks like in your body, free associate about the words you use to describe emotions, and use the five senses to reorient yourself during intense grief waves. With compassion and theological sensitivity, Meyer offers tools for grievers of many faith backgrounds, especially those disillusioned with religious platitudes.
More than ever, book publishing is a team effort, and we’d like to invite you to join the launch that can help spread the word. By joining, you’ll get an advance digital review copy of the book, along with emails from Kate. All that is asked is that you consider pre-ordering the book, leaving an honest review online, and telling others about the book. Your efforts will count; they will make a difference in meeting the needs of those who are facing grief (remember, we’re all part of that, and some right now).

Thank you, dear subscribers, for considering this request! You can learn more about the book here, which includes endorsements, a video of Kate talking about the book, and a downloadable excerpt.
So grateful for you,
David Morris, Publisher, Lake Drive Books
